This is not your mother’s Tom Thumb.
The grocery store held its grand opening Wednesday inside the Left Bank development on West Seventh Street. It’s Tom Thumb’s first “urban store” in Fort Worth, featuring a wine bar, expanded organic section and patio among other features.
The 53,000-square-foot store also offers made-to-order items like pizza (with toppings like brisket, pulled pork and pepperoni), pho, wok bowls, poke and sandwiches. Trinity Crossing Food and Libations features a Starbucks and wine bar, as well as indoor and outdoor seating.
Fort Worth touches are seen throughout the store — like the aisles, which are named after Fort Worth streets. University Drive, for example, has bread, coffee and tea. West Lancaster Avenue has salad dressing, pickles and mayonnaise.
Tom Thumb will hold grand opening festivities all week long, including $1 pints of beer, all-day happy hour and free giveaways like Blue Bell ice cream, Texas Rangers tickets and TCU baseball tickets. On Saturday, families can take pictures with the Easter Bunny.
Tom Thumb anchors Left Bank, a development by Centergy Retail that will feature 110,000 square feet of retail and restaurants. The project will also have residential space, with the first phase of more than 600 multifamily units, flats and lofts ready for lease between April and August. An additional 600 units are also expected to be built.
One restaurant development currently underway at Left Bank is Hopdoddy Burger Bar, which is expected to open in the fall.
